I run Win 10 and recently, it seems, it did some updates, automatically. Now I have no full screen image, but instead a smaller image to the center of screen. What I need to do to return to the full screen image?

Type "display" in the search box, click Display Settings, then in the Resolution option select  the correct one for your screen.

I tried. The produced effect is insignificant and definitely there is some other reason for the problem.

Was it a full update to the next Windows version? Do you use separate monitor or is it a laptop?

This is a desktop. I don't know what was the reason for the problem. Possibly updates have no relation here.

You could try:

  • Right click on Desktop and select Personalise (this allows you to select the background)
  • Scroll down to the "Choose a fit" box
  • Select Fill (or Fit or Tile or one of the others, if that doesn't do what you want)

Doesn't produce any effect. Maybe this is settings of monitor, not software?

Ah. I was thinking it was just the background image, not the whole screen.

When you go to the Display Settings, does it correctly identify the type of the monitor? Is the resolution it displays the same as the resolution of the monitor?

Turn computer off -> unplug the display cables -> plug the display cables back in -> turn computer on.

Thank you, it helped. But how exactly?

Somehow the OS had failed to recognise the type of the monitor. Plugging it back in / power cycling it forced it to recheck the monitor type.

One of the pins in your display connectors was not making proper contact. Whenever you encounter a similar problem look for physical causes first (bad connection, bad cable, etc)
