I didn't pay for my tuition. I lived in a civilised country where the State recognised that society at large is the greatest beneficiary from an educated population, so they paid.

Obviously, I had to work to learn, but I was free from worrying about funding, so I had the chance to study more.

Have you given up trying to pretend that Trump is honest? Is that why you changed the subject?

If you paid tuition for Trump University and expected to learn to become a billionaire without applying yourself, would you be surprised when you failed?

I believe Trump is an honest statesman, I also believe he is a dog that will rip out your through with no mercy in the business world. If he wanted to be a politician, he could probably do well. I do believe he chooses to be a statesman.

That is not true, you had better check your facts, he does not make apologies or change his story for anyone... Remember where he came from, the business world is a lot tougher than the hill!

I don't understand why the first sentence is praiseworthy. Acknowledging when you're wrong is a sign of maturity and intellectual honesty.

I don't understand the second sentence either. It's like saying the life of an oil rig worker is a lot tougher than that of a politician. Tough is relative, and in the context you use it, it's meaningless. I don't know why anyone but an extremist capitalist would think a businessman would make a good politician.

I don't believe Trump with his super enormous ego will have anyone speaking for him.

Personally, I do not consider authenticity much relevant in this case. The tweets will be presented and understood as Mr. Tump's tweets and that matters for all practical purposes. I mentioned it as I thought it was relevant to the topic of the authenticity of an authority.

In other words, my concern is not authenticity but, as mentioned, let's say sophistication of the thoughts behind the information presented. To me, it's not about the form, though I do admit I do not quite understand the appeal of some of the so-called new media. Just it's not possible to form a political opinion from such tweets. Why I think an informed opinion is important to citizens is for another debate, however, to answer the question in OP, I'd rather have president hiding behind speech writer or a very strategic press secretary rather than a Twitter president.

If I paid to go to Trump uni, I'd expect to be a failure.

We have already pointed out that he changes his story more often than some folk change their socks.

If he believes one thing  on odd numbered days and another thing on even numbered ones, doesn't that show he's just swaying in the breeze of public opinion?

Trump does not back off, change his story or start making apologies... He doubles down on what he believes and "Damn the torpedoes!" How would you like to wake up in his shoes everyday? Now tell, why does he even bother.

Well, I don't follow his tweets(obviously the media does). I think that someone that speaks off the top of their head, may often speak wrongly, foolishly or unpleasantly... But at least they are speaking honestly.

Better than that Butch, every one of his tweets is a pleasure to read.  It's like Trump is reading my mind.  Many of therm are incredibly humorous.

There are those who attended and have done quite well, they don't need their money back.

Have you ever played the stock market? I don't mean a 401k, a broker or a Muni. I mean taking the bull by the horns and eking out a profit.

He is not afraid for the world to see him as he is, he "ain't" perfect but he is happy in his skin.

No, but I know that, on average, stocks go up so, in the long term it's easy to eke out a profit.

This is fun people, everybody getting things out there!

By the way Trump is a great believer in science benefitting the world, I think we will see some great things, if he can get them through the hill.

You won't find many people like that on this blog Butch.  Most here not only want a safety net, but one that's no more than an inch beneath their posterior.  In their minds profit is something owned by the community to be distributed by government.

Yeah, I am talking about things like trading futures... In one minute out the next and hope you grabbed a few dollars. If making a dollar we're easy, a dollar would not be worth much. Trump's job is really tough... Really tough, especially when he chooses to stick to his values and he isn't doing it for the money.

I am all for socialism on a small level, it is good to have community to do those things... It is not our governments job.

His values are to say he's a patriot, but to export jobs.

You seem to have forgotten that it was the banks that got bailed out by a govt safety net. The Big Boys were never at any real risk. That's the joy of gambling with other people's money.

My guess is you mean true altruism where you reach into your own pocket and give money to a worthy cause.  Like  your local food bank, or a homeless shelter.  If not that putting your own back into improving the community through volunteer work.  If so I agree completely.

There was a time in this country, when you knew your neighbor, you knew when he needed a hand up and if you could you extended that hand... Now everyone looks to big brother and he really doesn't give a Damn about you.

Got bailed out by Obama and the Democrats.  Just like the auto companies that were going to fail because they went in to home finance.

Got bailed out by pretty much every country in the world.

The exception usually cited is Iceland. They bailed out the people and jailed the corrupt bankers.

Seen how their economy is doing lately?

Absolutely true! That is what politicians do! IMHO Trump might be able to snatch government away from the "big boys".

Do any of you realize who pays corporate taxes? You do, for corporations it is just the cost of doing business, it gets passed on to the consumer. If corporations want to avoid that cost, they simply do their business in another country.

I did quite well in '07 and '08, I quit playing when the government started pouring money into the markets.

He is the Big Boy.

He just snatched the government for himself (and his rich friends).

That's why he's destroying regulatory legislation.

I wholly do not agree with Trump's trade policies, protectionism has been tried and tried and it has failed and failed. I am not a blind follower, I just think we have a chance with Trump.
