What's the stupidest conspiracy you can think of.

What is the stupidest, most unlikely, needlessly complicated and generaly crazy conspiracy theory that you can think of?

Here's some pretty tame ideas, see if you can beat them.

  • The little flakes in blue toothpaste that get called whitening strips don't actually whiten the teeth but emmit a telephathic signal of whiteness.
  • House and street names are part of an incredibly complicated mechanism for portraying directions for spies/aliens/goverment-people to get to a series of super secret research facilities.
  • The number 666 is a key left by acient Egyptions to get into a large underground city known as Hell which is actually a really cool place, with clean water, free hospitals and pretty flowers throughout.

Most of them are pretty stupid in my opinion. I usually get pretty hotheaded about 9/11 conspiracy crap. I got into a huge argument last year with some random guy at the scuba shop. He mentioned something about the Jews and 9/11 and I just couldn't keep my mouth shut. He believes the Jews in conjunction with GWBush planned 9/11.

I also get particularly angry when creationists (of any type) claim some sort of evolution conspiracy. grr.

Xenu is priceless !

I personally find the whole "scientific conspiracy" thing (that blike talked about) quite tiresome (and not just in the case of ID or creationism, but in general, for every new crackpot idea out there).

Alcohol is actually an alien organism which, feeds on brain cells, records information, fools you into thinking you are brewing a chemical instead of breeding the organism, produces waves in the brain that mimic a pleasurable experience and then exits the body for collection from the sea. This means the aliens can know everything we know without ever having to touch us unless it is necessary. :)

I like the one that claims that flourine is a psychoactive drug that makes us more submissive and compliant, and thats why the govournment adds it to our tap water.

One of my favorites is that Apollo 13 was carrying a nuclear device and some aliens were upset by this (the aliens apparently lived on the moon), so they attacked the command module, which led to the famous explosion. So Apollo 13 was a "coverup". They should have included that in the movie. :D

Though most of these stories (and all the ones mentioned here) are completely unfounded, it worries me not a little that the more we make the sound byte "conspiracy theory" synonymous with "whacko ranting", the easier it becomes to pull off an actual conspiracy.

If that's true, they must have had it when the Bible came out.

I'm referring to religion as being the opiate of the masses etc. back before TV was invented.

certain fast food Franchises put lots of ice in your drink to keep it cool.

this is NOT the case, it`s because for every 3 they sell with Ice in it, they get a 4`th for free and can charge for that too!

just look at their faces drop the next time you order one without ice! :)

I once had an interesting discussion with a guy (my brother-in-law's sister's husband) in California which I was too thrown off by to give a logical response to at the time. He said that certain recent studies had found that natural gas and oil were being produced under the crust in inexhaustable quantities by inorganic processes, and claimed that most all science currently done in regards to the environment was "BS". He cited the world-wide socialist conspiracy in science as the source of these misconceptions before his wife led him away.

would that not, in actual fact, be you?
I suppose it could be in a certain case, but I'm not married. It's actually my brother-of-law's brother-in-law, or my sister's husband's sister's husband, but I thought writing it out in either of those forms would look weird.

YT2095' date=' I am glad Bush is interested in Iraq's oil, because I like to drive to the store.[/quote']

I don't think the war had much to do with oil at all. It seems to me that investing in technology research would be much more fruitful than investing in a war. Electric cars will be here long after the oil runs dry.

Whatever the motives, I'm glad Saddam was taken down. The message needed to be sent that the western world will not stand for the inhumanity inflicted by evil dictatorships. It was proven in Afghanistan, and it was proven in Iraq, and I have little doubt the message will have to be sent again in North Korea.

The only country I'm really scared of is China. They are very close to having the world in a strangle hold, in terms of industry and military. If they so chose, they could probably take out the US, assuming the other world powers stayed home.

I believe China is the reason the US is still clutching its nuclear capability so tightly. The middle eastern countries are a pittance compared to the tactical capabilities of the worlds largest country.

[edit]

For interest's sake, check this out. Look at how many young people die compared to the other countries.

bush wasn't planning on spending huge amounts of money on the war, he was going to sell iraqi oil to pay for the cost of the war, but international powers intervened, so he couldn't in the end.

by then of course it was too late to pull out, the result being that USA is running a huge deficit budget...

Do I need to split this off into Politics? Or are we starting another conspiracy theory?

How about this for a conspiracy to chew on? You have arms manufacturers and arms merchants and professional militaries who have multi-billions of dollar industries and budgets to take care of. How interested are they in peace breaking out all over the world? How much of the tension in the world today is natural and how much is manufactured by their... "marketing departments", for lack of a better term?

Stupid theory or logical free-market consequence?
