toolazytosearchforit69 Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 I was watching a show one day and it accidentally changed to a show and some body fell when they were flying on a diagonal and they fell vertically. So I wanted to know if this was possible? And also can i get a diagram like the diagram below?

A diagonally flying plane is either gaining or losing altitude, yes? Flying at a steep angle (diagonal is usually 45 degrees). A horizontally flying plane is flying straight. If you jump you will fall horizontally with the plane, and vertically due to gravity. Is this what you mean?
Country Boy Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 (edited) An airplane can "fly on a diagonal" because the upward force of air on its wings partially cancels the downward force of gravity to keep it from falling. Once you have fallen out of the airplane, you have only the downward force of gravity- your acceleration is -g. At time t later, your velocity is -gt+ v0 and your position is -(g/2)t^2+ v0t+ x0 where vo is your velocity (velocity of the airplane) at the moment you fell out and x0 is your vector position at that time. You will fall in a parabolic arc with only the initial position and slope or that arc determined by the motion of the airplane. Edited January 21, 2018 by Country Boy

Is this what you mean? gaining altitude at about 150 kilometers per hour at a 140 degree angle and yes that is what i mean but on a diagonal
mathematic Posted January 21, 2018 Posted January 21, 2018 When you leave the plane, you start with 2 components of velocity corresponding to the plane's. The vertical up is immediately stopped by gravity, while the horizontal is slowed by air resistance. Very soon you will be going straight down.
