Chinese made two

Nonsense.

For example:

Quote

China is by far the largest consumer of semiconductors; it accounts for about 45 percent of the worldwide demand for chips, used both in China and for exports. But more than 90 percent of its consumption relies on imported integrated circuits.

So if they import 90%, they must make 10%.

Quote

Shanghai-based Spreadtrum Communications, which designs chips for mobile phones, and Shenzhen-based HiSilicon Technologies, a captive supplier to Huawei and one of the largest domestic designers of semiconductors in China, are among the local designers that have shown rapid growth over the past few years.

So there are at least two Chinese companies designing and manufacturing chips.

What point are you trying to make with these random and incoherent posts?

What evidence do you have for that?

Can you explain why you think it doesn't work?

I have to say that the spoon shape is a very clever way of making a low friction bearing from a material that is, I assume, quite hard to work.

With the added bonus that you can use it to eat your soup afterwards!

Agreed. But how is this relevant to the compass? Neither the Wikipedia page not anyone here has used this as a reference.

That should be: "A Chinese microchip"

1)" Can you explain why you think it doesn't work?"

I do not want to waste time to teach you.

The ancient Chinese compass, Sinan.

The pointer of the ancient Chinese compass was as big as a spoon.
The spoon was put on a board, with nothing else.

If you think that "compass" works, it proves how smart are you.

2) I said that "Chinese made two microchips and they are all fake."

You said that  "What evidence do you have for that?".

Can you read?

If I wasn't sure that you are a sock puppet I would engage and ask you what your agenda is here.

My Polar-sense however makes me think that you are a banned member who does not want to take part in  a civilized and productive conversation.

That's playground talk, it's not even a logical fallacy, and I stopped reading if you grow up and answer a simple question I'll read on.

Then what is the point of this thread?

You seem to be very confused. I asked you what evidence you had that the video of the Chinese compass was fake.

I was the one who provided details of the fake chip you mentioned. Remember?

Yes. We agree on that. So what? Why is it relevant?

So what? How is this relevant?

And why do you just keep posting the same thing over and over? This is a DISCUSSION forum.

It works.

Why would it not?

OK - to play advocate...  although I think it probably worked, I'd assume the handle would need to be magnetic, the board and underside of the spoon bowl would need to be highly polished.  I reckon it would be clunky, the spoon would need to be light....  but assuming it was magnetized, er, Ok that's all I got  -  why wouldn't it work?

I assume the whole thing is made from magnetite (the Chinese are very good at working difficult stones; look at some of their jade work - a material that cannot be carved). And if it is heavier, there is more magnetite and so a stronger magnet. But there is probably some ideal balance between size and functionality.

The other good thing about the spoon shape as a balance is that it doesn't depend on the base being perfectly level.

Yes but more of a request to mods to investigate. Also I don't understand the role of the pictures that the OP insists on re-adding.

Actually I am super confused by this thread. I don't see what's the problem. OK, the Chinese spoon compass was crude... So what? Who cares to whom the invention is attributed to cheetaman

This nationalistic pride is dangerous. We are all children under the same sun. :P

Arabia was for some time the "science  capital of the world" between 8th and 11th century. Things took a left wrong turn in the meantime from a science point of view. Not sure how that relates to this thread but the randomness of facts seems to compliment the thread style.

I guess he is just angry and decided to blame the Chinese. Or something.

Who is to say that the Italian invention wasn't inspired by seeing the Sinan on a merchant ship or something? I don't think it matters anyway. Who would care?

Again, It is another fake one.

What is your evidence (or other support) that it's fake? That all of them are fake? What would prevent them from working?

I guess you must have no knowledge in physics.

Yeah, that's me. A complete n00b.
