Massive magnetic anomaly located under the southern continent of Africa that is literally tugging on and weakening Earth's magnetic field which could very well be a precursor to the Earth's poles flipping one day soon ( soon being relative as this is a very slow process) it has been no secret that the Earth's magnetic field has been weakening for some time and has been happening in a pattern for the past 1,000 years. Scientists have recently pinpointed a certain area on the earth that is of concern located in a huge expanse of this field stretching from Chile to Zimbabwe across southern Africa known as the South Atlantic Anomaly (an area where the Earth's inner Van Allen radiation belt comes closest to the Earth's surface, dipping down to an altitude of 200 kilometres). This is an area where this anomaly lies that is weakening the Earth's magnetic field above it making things so weak in the anomaly that it has now become hazardous for Earth's satellites to enter anywhere around this area. This has been perplexing scientist as they can't figure out why is this magnetic field weakening around the Earth and why is it happening in this region of Southern Africa. Scientists are postulating that this is possibly why we are seeing such changes in the earth's wildlife especially Birds which appear to be falling from the sky. It has been discovered that the iron in the birds beaks has been providing a compass and a new finding on the sciencealert.com website is shedding new light as to how the birds are using this magnetic field and can possibly see the magnetic fields using a newly discovered protein that was found in the birds eyes which literally allows them to see the Earth's magnetic fields... Theories?

I noticed the header of my topic was not in bold lettering. This is my first day on this site. Did I post in the wrong area or did I post on someone else's thread??? I generally don't use forums so any help would be appreciated .

I don't know where you got this story from, but it doesn't seem to be very accurate. (Note, when you post stuff from elsewhere, it is a good idea to provide a link to the source)

There seems to be a lot of nonsense about this one the web. Here is the original paper it is referring to, I think: https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/2017GL076007

And an overview here: http://www.rochester.edu/newscenter/new-data-helps-explain-recent-fluctuations-in-earths-magnetic-field-302242/

It has always been hazardous. And satellites that regularly go through the area (including the Hubble telescope and the ISS) take precautions.

"these orbits take satellites through the anomaly periodically, exposing them to several minutes of strong radiation, caused by the trapped protons in the inner Van Allen belt. The International Space Station, orbiting with an inclination of 51.6°, requires extra shielding to deal with this problem. The Hubble Space Telescope does not take observations while passing through the SAA.[9] Astronauts are also affected by this region"

This has nothing to do with the story.

"the in-air bird deaths aren't due to some apocalyptic plague or insidious experiment—they happen all the time, scientists say. The recent buzz, it seems, was mainly hatched by media hype."

Michio Kaku  has recently said on his New York radio show that there could be the fact that although course Corrections have to be made in the SAA that two satellites were almost pulled down close to the poles and there could be a correlation between the two. I have no actual link2site that since this was only recently said this past week. No I don't think this is any apocalyptic Doomsday situation but I do speculate myself that it does have to do with the start of our damage due to the Kessler syndrome and that magnetic fields will shift and bounce off of objects in space causing these movements again this is a theory of a few of us theoretical physicist and it's sad know that there is no theoretical physicist thread on the site
