Strange Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Quote An experiment at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory near Chicago has detected far more electron neutrinos than predicted — a possible harbinger of a revolutionary new elementary particle called the sterile neutrino, though many physicists remain skeptical. https://www.quantamagazine.org/evidence-found-for-a-new-fundamental-particle-20180601/ 1
koti Posted June 1, 2018 Posted June 1, 2018 Interesting. I hope this is not another loose cable like in Cern a few years ago. Is this sterile neutrino predicted anywhere? It looks like the standard model might go into pieces if this turns out correct, exciting.
Strange Posted June 2, 2018 Author Posted June 2, 2018 Reading some of the comments on Twitter, I don't expect anything much to come of this... Sadly
