I am trying to prepare a 5% NaCl Solution in Glycerol without success. Theoretically it would be possible to dissolve  up to 6,7% NaCl in Glycerol, but obviously something stupid I'm should be doing that I can't make it. Does anyone have an explanation (and may be a solution) to my problem?

Thanks

How long have you left it?

Try leaving on a stirrer and a low warmth and leaving it for a day or so. Maybe it take time for all of it to dissolve up?

I am preparing only 10 ml in a plastic tube. I have been vortexing it for more or less one hour. May be you are right and it is a question of time.

Thanks for the replay.

Maybe prepare a larger solution then take 10 ml out?   It will be easier to put on the stirrer and provide some heating to.

Finally I could dissolve the NaCl in glycerol. Heating was important and a little bit of patience as well. Thanks a lot DrP.
