redvaper Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 (edited) I am trying to prepare a 5% NaCl Solution in Glycerol without success. Theoretically it would be possible to dissolve up to 6,7% NaCl in Glycerol, but obviously something stupid I'm should be doing that I can't make it. Does anyone have an explanation (and may be a solution) to my problem? Thanks Edited June 7, 2018 by redvaper
DrP Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 How long have you left it? Try leaving on a stirrer and a low warmth and leaving it for a day or so. Maybe it take time for all of it to dissolve up?
redvaper Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 I am preparing only 10 ml in a plastic tube. I have been vortexing it for more or less one hour. May be you are right and it is a question of time. Thanks for the replay.
DrP Posted June 7, 2018 Posted June 7, 2018 Maybe prepare a larger solution then take 10 ml out? It will be easier to put on the stirrer and provide some heating to.
redvaper Posted June 7, 2018 Author Posted June 7, 2018 Finally I could dissolve the NaCl in glycerol. Heating was important and a little bit of patience as well. Thanks a lot DrP.
