geordief Posted August 12, 2018 Posted August 12, 2018 Have I understood this correctly? Is it really proposed that this may have happened with with a symmetric or asymmetric balance of negative and positive "energy? Any evidence or proposed experiments along those lines? Quantum fluctuations don't normally "run away with themselves do They?

Still quantum fluctuations are not speculative and so we have to start connecting the dots somewhere.
Airbrush Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 "Quantum fluctuations may have been very important in the origin of the structure of the universe: according to the model of expansive inflation the ones that existed when inflation began were amplified and formed the seeds of all current observed structure. Vacuum energy may also be responsible for the current accelerating expansion of the universe (cosmological constant)." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_fluctuation
MarkE Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 I've found an old topic on this forum regarding this subject, maybe you'd like to read that discussion? I'm a fan of this hypothesis by the way, how about you?
