creativus Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Do ascorbic acid, potassium nitrate, and magnesium sulfate undergo a reaction when mixed dry or solved in water in pairs or altogether ?
chenbeier Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Ascrobic acid is a strong reducer, Nitrate a oxidiser. There will be a reaction. Magnesium sulfate will not react with each of them.

Sensei Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Potassium Nitrate, and Magnesium Sulfate, are salts of stronger acid than ascorbic acid..

If you mixed powdered ascorbic acid and potassium nitrate then set the mixture on fire there would be a very vigorous reaction.
chenbeier Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 As powder it would only react by give some initial power like fire, spark to it. A kind of gun powder. In aqueous solution the reaction also could be quick.
