Glory and bloodshed, war & violence in general?

The value of it is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for the winner, and often for suppliers on the loser's side too.

Let's ask Einstein what he thought of war and violence:   in the last year of his life he said if he wasn't a Jew, he would be a Quaker.   Most of us know the Quakers are pacifists.

In the last year of his life he said "If I were not a Jew I would be a Quaker."[54]

Do you think there is glory in war and blood shed and violence in general,  or do you think it is portrayed grandiosely by film and television.

People dying and suffering, people killing and hurting, what is the value of it all?

It all depends on your place in the war. If you read history from generals. Its all tactics and troop movement. So clean and wonderful. If you read history from the grunts. Its all dirt and blood. Bad food and death.

You know the one thing you never get from books or tv is the smells.

Wars all fun and games until someone gets shot.

Every leader knows the formula for war, it is spelt out by Herman Goering, and  we the people still fall for it today.

Quote

“Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all it is the leaders of a country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or fascist dictorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peace makers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
