John Harmonic Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 I am wondering if the stuff that I do in this life that causes epigenetic changes to occur in my body will be passed down to my offspring. Also I am wondering if working out and eating lots of nutrient dense food will help my offspring in terms of epigenetic changes. thank you in advance.
Country Boy Posted October 8, 2018 Posted October 8, 2018 According to Wikipedia, "Epigenetics most often denotes changes that affect gene activity and expression, but can also be used to describe any heritable phenotypic change" so, yes epigenetic changes affect genes and can be passed on to off spring. However, "working out" and "eating lots of nutrient dense food" are NOT "epigenetic". They are phenotypic, do not affect genes, and are NOT passed on to offspring.
John Harmonic Posted October 8, 2018 Author Posted October 8, 2018 Do you have any examples of what are epigenetic?
