tylerngo Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 I am currently using a release agent for polyurethane resin moulded parts. The release agent is a solution of silicone in Heptane, Petroleum Naptha and an Aliphatic Solvent which i got from brumer. Please advise a solvent that would remove the silicone residue from the finished moulded part? Someone suggested Alkaline products but they have had limited success in removing the release agent. Please let me know what i could use.
studiot Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 How much can you warm the polyurethane parts with say warm air? I assume your release agent is some sort of silicone grease. So can you warm it up and wipe it off? (polyurethane material is good to 100oC Alternatively you could try some liquid siloxane http://dept.harpercollege.edu/chemistry/msds/Silicone oil Fisher.pdf Either way use proper ventilation and safety techniques.
