Strange Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 From the Perimeter Institute: https://insidetheperimeter.ca/a-quiz-with-questions-from-quantum-to-cosmos/ I got a very disappointing score (10/15). Let us know how you get on! 1
beecee Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 10 also, but disappointed in that I believe I should have answered at least two more correctly if I had given more thought to the subject at hand.

Yep. That's my excuse too! Edited October 14, 2018 by Strange

Eise Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 12 I was wrong on Q15: The 'M' of 'M87' brought me on the wrong track. Charles Messier himself could never have seen a black hole, so it must be a nebula or a galaxy. So in a certain sense the question is wrong: M87 is a galaxy, not a black hole. On Q9 I did not expect so many planets especially in the Goldilocks zone And Q6, I expected that it had to be farther away, the Lagrange points of the earth orbiting the sun, but obviously they are closer than I thought.

I got those wrong too, for similar reasons. So I don't feel so bad now!
Outrider Posted October 15, 2018 Posted October 15, 2018 Thanks Strange. That was fun. I missed 6, 7, 9 and 11. I just guessed on the plank length question and got lucky. So I probably don't deserve my 11 score but will take it. https://insidetheperimeter.ca/physics-quiz/ 12/15 on this one.

zapatos Posted October 16, 2018 Posted October 16, 2018 11/15 In all sincerity, thanks to everyone here for getting me to the point where I could score that well! 1

koti Posted November 2, 2018 Posted November 2, 2018 I got 12/15 and this is outrageous, I should have gotten all of them. I'm not talking to anyone ever again.
