Pangloss Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 It isnt fair to say "liberals who think they're libertarians are just deluding themeslves"' date=' because there are circumstances where this is definitely not true such as in the case of Locke and Thomas Jefferson. And, for what its worth, consider this: Libertarians who think they are libertarians are just deluding themselves.[/quote'] Wow, well said IMM! That was a really interesting post. To be honest, I'm pretty familiar with a lot of the background there, but I think your perspective on it is really unique and astute. I hope you got an A on that paper!

ed84c Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Current Synopsis: Most sciency people are socialist
Pangloss Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Well that's a poor generalization, given the size of the statistical sample. On the other hand, it's not an atypical application of the scientific method. Certainly a good example of why so many theories get overturned.
ed84c Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 Ill sleep on that. Tommorow i will understand what you just said.
Tetrahedrite Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Current Synopsis: Most sciency people are socialist My theory: "sciency people" are generally more intelligent than the rest of the population.
ed84c Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 My theory: "sciency people" are generally more intelligent than the rest of the population. Rolf. I was tempted to say the same thing myself as in socialist= intelligent or something, but noting where i am on the graph, people will yell at me for symptahy seeking .
Pangloss Posted August 3, 2005 Posted August 3, 2005 Actually the funny thing is that you actually seem to believe that everyone who shows up in the lower-left quarter is a socialist.
