fredreload
What do you think would happen when consciousness swaps between two people? Do you think you still have the original memory in another person's brain or do you now have a new set of memories and personalities? Philosophically, if we cannot prove this then, our consciousness could be constantly swapping among each other, we just don't realize it because we take the personality and memory of the other person. But since this doesn't seems like the case, I'll need some explanation

Moderator Note You would have to define what you mean by a "consciousness swap between two people" Such an event is not currently possible, so an open-ended question such as this does not narrow the discussion sufficiently, since we must apply science to the answer. It's up to you to present the question so that it can be answered. If not, it doesn't belong here.

It depends which science fiction book or movie you are talking about. They all invent different answers that are appropriate for the story they are telling. If you are making something up, you can choose the rules. But it is best to make them internally consistent.
