pegasus10 Posted December 8, 2018 Posted December 8, 2018 Hello, is muscle glycogen phosphorylase sensitive to glucose? I mean, is glucose an allosteric effector for the muscle isoform of glycogen phosphorylase? My answer would be no, but going through Voet's Biochemistry book I found a diagram in which glucose is depicted as a negative allosteric effector for glycogen phosphorylase in general, without specifying muscle isoform / liver isoform. Thanks in advance!
BabcockHall Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Nelson and Cox, Figure 15-38 also talk about liver glycogen phosphorylase as a sensor of glucose. I suspect that it is only in liver, but I am not certain. Any luck with a PubMed search?
pegasus10 Posted December 11, 2018 Author Posted December 11, 2018 No, unfortunately I wasn't able to find anything useful on PubMed. Thank you, by the way.
