Raider5678 Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 (edited) So, if you guys don't know, starlite is a super heat resistant material that was under serious review by Nasa for use as one of the worlds most effective heat shields. However, the guy who knew the recipe died and we never figured out what it was. It had ridiculous properties that we haven't even come close to being able to replicate. Except, this guy on this youtube channel put out a video show casing what he believes to be starlite, and even explains how to make it so you can test it out for yourself. Thoughts? Is this real? Endy0816 Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) Random Guy lol. He's one of the YouTubers I watch frequently actually. I think would qualify as a carbon foam though this looks stupidly easy compared with other methods I've seen. Chinese lab actually first found the "bread method". Other YouTubers have made it before this as well. Spoiler It is pretty cool... no pun intended there... No idea if Starlite and probably impossible to say. The name does spark the imagination though doesn't it? Edited December 22, 2018 by Endy0816
