Five children are racing 10 kilometers. Four boys Jim, Nick, Dan, Bill and a girl Susan.

Dan wins after running 3 kilometers. Bill and Jim run 6 kilometers and tie for third.

Which boys run 10 kilometers?

Just semantics, but...

You can't win a 10km race after  running 3km.
Although you can be leading.

True but we imo don't know who won the 10 km. We know that Dan won after running 3 km.  We don't know what he exactly won. Maybe Dan won a sprint at  3km.

Doesn't follow. I think he left something out.

"Dan wins after running 3 kilometers"

That doesn't mean Dan won the 10 km.

In the Tour  de France for example you can often win points/time by reaching certain goals in between start and finish as first....that doesn't mean you reached the finish as first.

Based on the clues, they all did (except the original doesn't say Nick finished).

You've never heard of the Millennium Falcon? It's the ship that made the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs!

Don't want to spoil your humorous quote from long ago, in a galaxy far, far away...

But a "parsec' is a measure of distance, not time.

So is a kilometre, and I think that  may have been the point.

Heard an interesting theory once(not specifically in line with what the creator said) that mentions it's possible that it really meant that they'd found a much shorter path through the Kessel.
