Guest aychamo Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 Considering this reaction, I have a handful of things I need to do with it. I can handle most of them, but there are a few I'm having trouble with. 1. Write the balaneced equation for this. 2. Draw curved arrow mechanism For balancing the equation, do I ignore the reactants on the arrow? Ie, would it just be the propanone + Cl and the chloropropanone (forgive my naming,,!!). And for the curved arrow mechanism, I haven't the foggiest on how to get started. Obviously, I need to pull off that methyl group on the right, and put a Cl. Can I use the -OH to pull off the hydrogens? I would appreciate any help in this, I am totally stuck!
blike Posted July 1, 2003 Posted July 1, 2003 I dunno man. I haven't taken organic chem yet. Is this your first or second semester of it..?
