Chitosan can be dissolved in acidic solvents. Examples of methods are:
 
1. Chitosan can be dissolve in a mixture of 0.1M Acetic acid and 0.2M NaCl (at Room temp., stirring for 12 Hours).
2. Chitosan can be dissolved in 0.1M acetic acid (at 60 oC, stirring for 5 hours).
