drennan Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Can a diesel engine run on water due to its low combustion ratio? Also, I was watching a Steven Segal film in which he was helping a native American girl to save the world from pollution and self destruction. I cannot remember the title however it had John C McGinley in it. Anyway, the point is at the end he made a speech about how there was already a combustion engine available that can run on water. Is this true? Thanks for your help lads and ladettes Bob
YT2095 Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 when you say "Water" do you mean the 2 parts Hydrogen and 1 part Oxygen or the combined product H2O? H2O is not at all flammable (I think you already know that though).
timo Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 You are probably talking about Hydrogen Fuel Cells which run on (big surprise) hydrogen which reacts with oxygen and leaves water as an exhaust gas. You certainly picked the wrong subforum for such a question. It´s rather engineering or perhaps chemistry but certainly not modern theoretical physics where your thread fits in.

atinymonkey Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 I cannot remember the title however it had John C McGinley in it. On Deadly Ground. Directed, starring, produced and ruined by Steven Segal. Not a great film to pick up information from.
skuinders Posted July 28, 2005 Posted July 28, 2005 Not possible with straight water. Although, I have see diesel cars run on vegetable oil with a few modifications.
Mag Posted July 29, 2005 Posted July 29, 2005 ^ i believe thats Bio-Diesel. My uncle uses that in his diesel jetta
[Tycho?] Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 Can a diesel engine run on water due to its low combustion ratio? Must... not.... flame....... Water does not combust. Whewh. That was close.
Bluenoise Posted August 4, 2005 Posted August 4, 2005 ']Must... not.... flame....... Water does not combust. Whewh. That was close. Of course it does you just need to add a little sprinkle of fairy dust. And connect it to your standard improbability drive and voila!
abeefaria Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 If you changed the diesel engine to a steam engine...
insane_alien Posted August 8, 2005 Posted August 8, 2005 well if you believe this guy from another forum called zarkov then water is actually more unstable than hydrogen peroxide and will spontaineously decompose into hydrogen and oxygen. this guy also claims to have aspaceship 3 times the size of earth and is a resident of a mental institution.
