is it possible that anything that proves time travel is in fact proving something else? the events from the past no longer exist the information from those events do but the events thenselves dont, the events/information to create the events of the future exist now but future events dont. is there any room in phyisics to interact with something hat does not exist?

if you slow down events close to yourself whilst things around you carry on at a faster pace and then you return to your wider suroundings where more events have occured you havent travelled in time, you didnt go anywhere, the people around you didnt lose sight or contact with you, you simply did less than they did and entered a form of suspended animation, is thats whats meant by time travel?

would speeding up/slowing down events give the illusion of time travel? for example say gravity was a reactionary force and so variable and affected by speed would flying an atomic clock around the world have an effect on it.

obviously i dont know enough about gravity to say if thats possible just curious also can anyone say for certain that gravity isn't a pushing/compressing force rather than a pulling /towing one? i like to thinking 7 billion people on the planet and i'm the only one whos got it right :) and if it were variable would that do away with the need for dark matter?

is it fair to say time is nothing more than memory that would happily exist in an universe where nothing happened if you remembered nothing happened it wouldn't have scale but still exist conversely not exist in a universe of infinate events if you didnt remember those events but then could that universe exist if nothing knew/remembered the rules? the only way to travel back in time is to remember the events of the past and only way to travel forward is to predict future events the only universe where you can physically travel in time is one where elephants fart butterflies.

Time and space are personal, variable entities. Each person will always see time pass at 1 sec/sec in his own frame of reference. An example of the variable/personal nature of time, if you and I were twins, and I being the more intrepid, sett off at 99.999% light speed, and returned to Earth 12 months later, as calculated by my on board mechanical and personal biological clocks, I will have aged appropriatley 1 year. But I will just as certainly be returning to an Earth about 230 years in the future, with you long dead and buried. That is fact and is evidenced in many experiments that have been undertaken.

No gravity is not a push or pull in actual fact. It is simply spacetime geometry that has been warped/curved by matter/mass.

Hard to answer this as there is no evidence that time travel is possible, so no proof that it has happened.

But if some took you back to meet Queen Victoria (random example) then what else could that be but proof of time travel?

Wouldn’t that imply that time didn’t exist without humans (and other living things) to remember the past?

Also, unless that can be quantified in some way, is it useful in science? So, in GR, for example, time is treated like a dimension and this allows us to make predictions that turn out to be accurate. Do you have a suggested alternative?

Maybe. Who knows.

i'm not saying queen vic didn't exist i'm say she dosent for me to meet her would mean she would have to exist somewhere in time and space not only that but every moment of her life would have to perpeptualy exist as would every every moment of everybodys life and every event that ever happened in the cosmos since the big bang no matter how small, to phsically travel it would require that wouldn't it? is it likely they still exist? can you interact with something that doesn't and wouldn't it be nice if elephants did?

no, human memory is as irelivant as a goldfishes. perhaps my problem is i'm not sure what time is. is it the comparision between events having "time" to do something is completeing activity before another has finished or is it simply a record of events "memory". to me it seems at best time is instantanious but certainly doesn't come into being ahead of an event although the machanics for comparing or recording would already need to be in place. perhaps thats my problem i've as good as said time is there irespective of anthing else events merely give it scale, i should listen to myself cause no one else does:D and i have no idea what GR is.  general realtivity? in which case i really have no idea!

Well, it has different definitions depending on the context. The one most relevant to this discussion would seem to be that it is another dimension akin to the three spatial dimensions (as in GR, general relativity).

But as there is no known mechanism for time travel (apart from our relentless progress towards the future) you can choose to think it is impossible or make up some Sci-Fi rules for it.

So I am not sure what you mean when you refer to "anything  that proves time travel", because there isn't any such proof.

yeah i dont really get the spacetime thing i know its pretty and scientists say the maths work. does an object just warp specetime and the effect on other objects incidental i've heard odjects remain at rest till acted on by a force so could a blackhole for example pass within inches of me if i were at rest? does warping spacetime warp the matter within that spacetime? in which case wouldn't that be considered a force. a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, help make me harmless:)
