Interested in (colored) pyroworks smoke bomb but only (getting) white smoke

Create Smoke Bomb using KNO3 as oxidizer and sugar as fuel, even after adding certain food color for producing colored smoke it's not working.What's the best dye or pigment to produce any color like red,green,blue

Thanks for the message, I couldn't find same in guidelines as seen here - https://www.scienceforums.net/guidelines/ in any way to be restricted if wrong let me know , I do know how colors do work but I'll agree and stay humble that I am not that efficient in this particular as I tried from article and it worked without color

You apparently need to use organic dye powder, not water-based. 'Organic' as in carbon-based or synthetic, so don't go confusing that with stuff made according to the growing philosophy.
