I ordered some  bait from a  company and they are charging vat on the postage. Is this allowed since vat is already paid on the stamp thst they use?

Value added tax is a way to justify a tax on almost everything, food for instance; let them eat cake, comes to mind, or sanitary products?

 Value, in this context, is so ambiguous as to be almost meaningless...

VAT is a tax on the exchange of money. The one who invented VAT was evidently living in an economy of welfare. In times of recession it is an instrument that pushes forward black money, making things worse.
