Asimov Pupil Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 as i recall, it is the occilation period of the string that determines wether it is a mass particle or a messenger particle (i think). would the spinning of a messenger string give it different property?
Daecon Posted August 9, 2005 Posted August 9, 2005 I'm not sure if spin would be relevant to a string, as I thought the spin of a particle was determined by/alluded to what shape it was (like circular, square or triangular - to use a crudely simplistic analogy) but strings are all the same shape aren't they? Loops of 'string'...
Asimov Pupil Posted August 9, 2005 Author Posted August 9, 2005 yes they may all be the same shape but does that mean that some cannot have different spin? like maybe thy are associated with different energy patterns?
