Drakes Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Serious question. Some are saying that the antibodies do not last, however if this is true then the vaccine antibodies are also not permanent making the vaccine temporary for the current strain and useless to the new mutated strains evolving
CharonY Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 The user is banned but I would just like to add that reduction of antibodies does not necessarily mean that a loss of immunity. Also, vaccines can be designed to elicit stronger immune responses. At this point, however, we do not know enough to make certain predictions. 1
iNow Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 As things evolve, we may need multiple vaccines and previous exposure is likely not going to lead to immunity for life. Flu vaccine must be updated annually, and one imagines the same will be true for any covid vaccine.
CharonY Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Boosters are required for quite a range of vaccines, too. The main question that we cannot answer to date is how much protection the observed immune responses really deliver.
