Externet Posted August 13, 2020 Posted August 13, 2020 Good day to all. If a catastrophic failure in the forum server damages the records of years of posts; is there a backup of all contents ? Is it possible to purchase DVDs with the SFN contents; since day one; or by years; or by subforum contents ? Or what is suggested to obtain/download the history of a subforum content -say Applied chemistry- to save in optical media in a readable format , like we access it normally any day ? What about copyrights, use restrictions, ownership ?
iNow Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 This site almost surely shares a data center with hundreds of other forums. Those data centers almost certainly take backups and have fail over plans. There are almost surely admins who can query those tables directly and extract data. Asking about it here on this group is probably about 10 degrees separated from any of that.
MANDREWS85 Posted August 14, 2020 Posted August 14, 2020 (edited) Loop through all 4,000 pages of members in the search and scrape their content with Selenium or some such lol? Might want to set a delay though could cause issues with site reliability. Edited August 14, 2020 by MANDREWS85 clarity 1
