Ciak Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 Hi everyone.. I need help to produce CH3O-benzene-CH2COCl (para thesis) starting from benzene. I tried to start with CH2COCl so i will have para thesis but when I react the molecule ( OH-benzene-CH2COCl) with NaOH/CH3Br in order to have the ether, CH2COCl will react with NaOH too... Is there any other way to do this?
chenbeier Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 What is CH2COCl C6H6 => C6H5CH3 => p-NO2C6H4CH3 => NO2C6H4COOH => NH2C6H4COOCH3 => HOC6H4COOCH3 => CH3OC6H4COOCH3 => CH3OC6H4COOH => CH3OC6H4COCl
Ciak Posted January 16, 2021 Author Posted January 16, 2021 Thank you a lot. I want to synthesize this
Ciak Posted January 16, 2021 Author Posted January 16, 2021 And one more question... from aniline to phenol do I use NaNO2/HCl and then H2O? Is that right? *You are a life saver.. I have exams and as you can see synthesis are not my thing
chenbeier Posted January 16, 2021 Posted January 16, 2021 (edited) Yes thats right. But with the additional CH2 need different way or extend the chain. Edited January 16, 2021 by chenbeier
