Van Aken Julian Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 What will happen if I evaporate flouriantimonic acid and then walk trough it, will I melt, burn,... I’m just curious Thank you
StringJunky Posted January 26, 2021 Posted January 26, 2021 (edited) The acid decomposes on heating to hydrogen fluoride gas, which then forms hydrofluoric acid with any moisture on your body it comes into contact with. Injuries will be as for exposure to this acid. https://ehs.princeton.edu/book/export/html/197 Edited January 26, 2021 by StringJunky
MigL Posted January 27, 2021 Posted January 27, 2021 HF acid is particularly nasty, as it doesn't necessarily give indication that you've been exposed to it. I've always kept a tube of Calcium Gluconate cream nearby when I've had to work with it. ( along with all other required PPE. )
