ethelbertmagnus
Hi, everyone! Our today’s topic is “Interesting space facts”. The first interesting fact is that space is completely silent. There is no atmosphere in space, which means that sound has no medium or way to travel to be heard. The second interesting fact is that the sun’s mass takes up 99.86% of the solar system. And the last fact for today is that one day on Venus is longer than one year Venus has a slow axis rotation which takes 243 Earth days to complete its day. The orbit of Venus around the Sun is 225 Earth days, making a year on Venus 18 days less than a day on Venus. Thanks for paying attention))
Janus
Your last fact is open to what definition of "day" you use. You are using the sidereal day or the rotation relative to the stars. However, the usual use of "day" refers to the Solar day which is the time it takes for the Sun to go from noon to noon. Since Venus' rotation is retrograde (its rotates in the opposite direction to that it orbits the Sun, it's Solar day is only 116 day, 18 hours long. While it only has less then 5% of the total rotational angular momentum of the Solar System. http://www.zipcon.net/~swhite/docs/astronomy/Angular_Momentum.html Plus of course the hottest Planet isn't the one closest to the Sun.
