I see colors in letters and numbers! Anyone Else?

Recently, while spending the night at my friends house, I 'confessed' to my 'strange ability'. My friend and I conducted a few experiments and wrote down the silmularities in the colors I see, we found patterns. I also see this in musical notes on a treble clef only. I heard that Mozart had this also, as did Kandinsky, Bauldilare, and other famous writers, composers, and painters.

Last night when my friend was trying to find a pattern and I was picking out notes randomly on the piano. Suddenly (We both swear to God) I started playing a Mozart tune. We turned to each other and realized it.

I also have a little bit of a sixth sense. I can place my hand on an unmarked grave and find out alot about who is buried there.

Am I the only one on this forum like this?? Where do I learn more about people like me who have this condition and can safely get in touch with them?

Your condition sounds similar to one I read about in Scientific American a while ago called synesthesia. People with synesthesia experience two or more senses blended together -- for example, they can "taste" shapes which they feel with their hands or mustical notes evoke colors. Here's a citation for the article so you can look it up:

"Hearing Colors, Tasting Shapes." By: Ramachandran, Vilayanur S.; Hubbard, Edward M.. Scientific American, May 2003, Vol. 288 Issue 5, p52, 8p; People with synesthesia - whose senses blend together - are providing valuable clues to understanding the organization and functions of the human brain [ABSTRACT FROM PUBL]; (AN 13062773)

I'm sure you can look up more information on synesthesia through google or wikipedia.

Of course, realize I'm not a doctor and even if I were, I would not be able to diagnose your condition over the internet. This is just a suggestion to help you look for more information.

alright, I am not happy with being considered 'dillusional' because I am NOT! Please listen, this is very serious for me! I just want to know what causes this and who else has it. I wish to talk no further on the '6th sense' and I am telling the complete truth. Please does anyone believe me?????

everyone believes you about the synethesia, its a real condition thats farely well documented.

We here however are a skeptical bunch and tend not to believe stuff about 6th senses, thats what the posts saying that you might be slightly delusional were about. There is no way for the body to percieve something through a 6th sense, its impossible.

I've always wanted synethesia, at least the versions where sounds and letters also translate into colors.

there are certain psychotropic drugs that will give this effect, I`de advise against using then though, they`re not only ilegal but can have other "strange" effects too, LSD is one of them.

synethesia is certainly a very well known phenomenon. to add to the list, Anthony Burgess also was synesthetic.

as fot the othe r claim, , well you claim it but have you ever tried to do a controlled experiment to verify that your guesses about the deceased are correct, and things that cannot be obtained by mere guesswork and common sense? from looking at a grave stone you will immediately be able to deduce the age of the deceased at death, the era in which they lived, whether or not they were married and had children and many other things too (such as if they outlived their spouse if they are buried together). and are your "visions" actually meaningful? here for instance is an example of someone trying to prove for a television show that astrology is not bogus: they were given a birthdate of soemone famous (and alive, and a sceptic) and asked to write down what they could tell about this person. after it was revealed who the person was the only point that the astrologer could point to as being particularly accurate was that this person was supposed to have a strong sense of humour (and indeed the person was a famous comedy performer), at which point the said comedy performer asked the studio audience if those present who consider themselves not to have a good sense of humour would mind standing up.
