wotsallthis Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Happy New Year to all. It's December in London and Orion would look lovely if I had a clear sky once in a while. Why though on a printed sky balloon that I have, is Orion below the Horizon and not above? I know I'm missing something, please help. Best Confused amateur night time sky watcher
Bufofrog Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 Orion should be visible from London. Your sky chart may not be for your location or the right time of the year. 1
TheVat Posted January 6, 2022 Posted January 6, 2022 My memory of London this time of year (when visiting in the eighties) was that it did not offer optimal viewing conditions. Orion is prominent in the winter sky, arcing across the southern sky in the evening. I don't know which direction from London would get you away from light pollution the quickest.
