A new "Cold War" and "Space Race" would be good for American society

Perhaps a new "Cold War" would force American society to curb extreme individualism and a new "Space Race" would make society more supportive of science.

 

There seems to be an effort to get the next generation excited to become astronauts.

Sounds good. But what's being attracted is the same very small portion of geeky kids who were always attracted. It won' touch the God-fearin, gun-totin, Trumpster portion of America, and it won't sway any Republican representatives to vote any money for a space program, unless it's heavily weaponized.
