sciencegal Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 There's a great series of audio piece about E=mc2 on NOVA's Web site (and it's a podcast on iTunes as well). It's ten physicists explaining the equation, including Brian Greene, Sheldon Glashow, Frank Wilczek. Check it out at http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/einstein/experts.html.
5614 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 I haven't listened to it yet, but it should be interesting, thanks for the link.
Dave Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 To digress somewhat, there was a similar television programme broadcast on Channel 4 about 3 weeks ago on the same subject. I have to say that they got far too hung up on one particular aspect (namely the atomic bomb, as usual), and I would have liked for them to concentrate a lot more on the history of the equation, and not its applications. Not sure whether this is going to be more of the same, but I'll post my opinions after I've given them a listen.
5614 Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 There was a programme on e=mc^2 about 3 months ago... maybe dave's thing is a repeat because like he said it did get quite involved with the atom bomb and not so much on the equation itself. I didn't find the TV thing very good, well, it was ok, but nothing special... hopefully the audio will be better, I mean, they can't have 10 people all talking about nukes!
Dave Posted August 31, 2005 Posted August 31, 2005 No, but undoubtedly it will be mentioned somewhere. This is the program I watched. Maybe I'm just being too cynical
