Question about Amines (in foods & in a specific medication/chemical compound)

Firstly, I'm sorry if I'm posting in entirely the wrong place - I'm writing this at the suggestion of a pharmacist who couldn't help me any further with an important question (neither could my health specialists).

Context: I may have a food intolerance/sensitivity to 'amines', and I'm currently on a supervised elimination diet with a dietician to determine if this is the case.
I'm also prescribed dexamphetamine as a treatment for ADHD. I have a (difficult to confirm) suspicion that I react to this medication, but my psychiatrist said he has never observed the symptoms I show in response to this medication. My dietician was unsure if the amines in foods & the amines in this medication are functionally the same / if there is definitive basis for the idea that I may react to the medication. My pharmacist said that they are indeed the same type of compound, but that his knowledge of biochem is too specialised to pharmacology to really give me any further answers... he advised I track down a biochem forum and ask there, so here I am!

I'm having trouble formulating a succinct question, but I suppose its something like this:

Is the amine in dexamphetamine metabolised the same way as the amines in food are? I know there are different 'types' of amines... and I'm just very confused. I hope someone can make some sense of my question!
