toucana Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Given that this entire thread originally began with a discussion of 'Hammer Violence', it's probably worth revisiting the Young Turks video segment about the epic troll perpetrated by the Good Liars team at the NRA conference 5 months ago:
TheVat Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Interesting that if you look up the statistics, as that young fellow did, you find that only six US murders in 2021 were done by poison. (might fall under "that we know of") Characteristic Number of murder victims Handguns 6,012 Firearms, type not stated 4,740 Knives or cutting instruments 1,035 Personal weapons (hands, fists, feet, etc.)* 461 Rifles 447 Other guns 277 Blunt objects (clubs, hammers, etc.) 243 Shotguns 152 Narcotics 117 Fire 73 Asphyxiation 55 Poison 6 Other weapons or weapons not stated 1,059

Can you start naming them ? I can't think of any". The video was featured by Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC last night as her sign off to the 'The 11th Hour". Police in Albuquerque New Mexico have arrested a disgruntled Republican party candidate in connection with a recent spate of six targeted shootings aimed at the homes and offices belonging to Democratic party state officials and politicians in New Mexico. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSzIkNz_CMM Solomon Pena - the suspect now in custody - was an unsuccessful Republican nominee for a seat in the 14th District state legislature election in which he was comfortably beaten by the Democratic incumbent. Police have now linked him to four of the six shooting attacks that took place last December and January. They say there is firm evidence Pena carried out one shooting himself, and hired other parties to carry out another three. According to reports, Solomon Pena already had 19 prior felony convictions for burglary, larceny, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and receiving stolen property, and had spent seven years in prison before becoming a Republican nominee. toucana Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Republican Tara Carr has been kicked off Twitter after calling for the assassination of President Joe Biden. A military veteran and retired Lt. Colonel, she was elected as first selectman Brookfield Connecticut in the 2021 municipal elections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n5y39Vuyrs “She really stood out way and above any of the candidates out there,” said Republican Town Committee member George Walker.” (https://www.newstimes.com/local/article/Brookfield-resident-Army-vet-Tara-Carr-announces-16312271.php)
iNow Posted February 27, 2023 Posted February 27, 2023 Yep, and MTG called for Red states to become their own country despite how much more they rely on the federal government than blue states who provide far higher revenues. Why do we give these ignorant comments from these ignorant people any attention at all? This isn't a football match.

I cited the Tara Carr story as part of an ongoing response to Fox host Laura Ingraham’s preposterous rhetorical question “Which Republican politician has ever condoned or encouraged any form of violent physical assault ? Can you start naming them? I can’t think of any” - which was Fox TV's considered response at the time to the suggestion that violent rehtoric from GOP politicians had provoked an IRL hammer attack on Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband - which in turn was the entire point of the OP. MTG’s trolling is of no relevance, and I have no idea why you brought it up here. Edited February 27, 2023 by toucana typo - entire
