MigL Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 What does any of this have to do with 'N' ? My cat wants an answer, or else she'll step all over the keyboard vujiutde yzdj7.,7893 38r [\[p0097GG ucsiv we|r4 too late !

You don't think it's a pretty letter of the alphabet N? Not quite as pretty as K or Q, but it's not bad looking

I mean, an anti-nothing worth distinguishing from the usual nothing? 5 minutes ago, purpledolly79 said: Just make sure you stand for the judge, they really don't like that 😁 Always do. mistermack Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 I don't get this at all. It's filled me with wonder. Should I worship it?
joigus Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 13 hours ago, MigL said: My cat wants an answer, or else she'll step all over the keyboard I understand you got a new cat. Is that right? I love pets, but I can't be trusted with them. 1 hour ago, mistermack said: I don't get this at all. It's filled me with wonder. Should I worship it? Neither do I. I'm just wondering where we can get from just nothing. Maybe something's in store for us all.

In what way? I have two dogs. They are very good to people. But not between themselves. Fortunately, my house layout allows for an easy separation. So, one is a king of front yard, and the other of backyard.

joigus Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 1 hour ago, Genady said: In what way? In the short term, yes. I've got friends who trusted me with their dog every now and then when they were away. I'm told I'm pretty good with pets when it's just for, say, a month, or some weeks. In the long term, no. I can't afford taking care of a pet on a daily basis. Having a pet is an enormous responsibility. 16 minutes ago, MigL said: I had two, but one sister passed away 2 years ago. The other is now very lonely and very needy. It seems like it was yesterday when you mentioned it. 43 minutes ago, sethoflagos said: Would monopoles have anti-particles? CPT symmetry suggests they would. When you include magnetic monopoles in Maxwell's equations, you have both electric charges q, and magnetic charges g. For every particle with charge q there must be the corresponding anti-particle of charge -q. So for every particle with magnetic charge g there should be an anti-particle of magnetic charge -g, or else CPT symmetry would not hold. We think CPT symmetry holds. It would be a total re-think of quantum field theory if CPT symmetry failed. For more details, ask @Markus Hanke.

Yes, indeed. For that reason, I didn't have a dog until I retired and moved to the island 20 years ago. Dreamed of having a dog all my life, but always lived and worked in big cities... Now the conditions are perfect, for them and for me.
Markus Hanke Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 12 hours ago, joigus said: It would be a total re-think of quantum field theory if CPT symmetry failed. I don’t think this is even possible at all - CPT symmetry is fundamentally implied by local Lorentz invariance, and vice versa as well. You couldn’t have either symmetry without the other, and I’d think this is quite irrespective of the details of the model involved. 12 hours ago, joigus said: For more details, ask @Markus Hanke. I must admit this made me smile I’m just an ordinary guy who does all this as a hobby, purely as a matter of personal interest…not sure how it came to happen that the real experts are asking me technical questions now
Intoscience Posted March 6, 2023 Posted March 6, 2023 Just to add I have a daughter with special needs who is very unpredictable. She will often walk past my PC and hit buttons as fast as a Ninja! I have to be very careful when on teams calls with work while she is around. So lets talk - N
