insane_alien Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 right i need to pick an elective class for MEng in Chemical Engineering nad i have worked it down to 3 possibles. 1. Engineering Physics: All about waves (sound and light) but you get to use some really cool and big lasers 2. Intoduction to process biotechnology: examines some extraction and production processes and you get to make BEER! i don't like biology that much and i haven't done any since second year in highschool. 3. biomedical engineering: sounds cool with loads of cyborg type stuff and artificial organs but again i'm not too keen on biology. any advice? i'm currently leaning towards No.2
Skye Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 I'd guess, not being an engineer remember, that no. 2 would be most useful for a chem engineer looking for work. How often do they use lasers or make hip joints?
insane_alien Posted September 11, 2005 Author Posted September 11, 2005 i never thought of looking at it like that... thanks skye.
ydoaPs Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 but lasers are more fun. i'd go with teh first one.
insane_alien Posted September 11, 2005 Author Posted September 11, 2005 thats my problem, yourdad. lasers=fun biotech=usefulness + better job prospects but then i have seen the lasers and they do look big and shiny and lasery and cool and stuff and big and shiny. **drools**
Hellbender Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Although #3 sounds like the most fun, I would pick #2 as well. Skye's sage advice makes sense. I have a lot of elective choices, but I always try to pick ones that can may help me in the long run.
