laptops for uni

Is it worth buying a laptop for university? i'm unsure about it and have heard various views on it. i'm doing chemical engineering if it makes a difference and the university has full wifi coverage

I bought a new laptop for uni. It's a good deal, becasue I'm a commuter in a Wifi campus. I can do hw or access the internet between classes. And there is so many studetns at my school, there are rarely computers available.

my personal plan is to use my main desktop for most things (the one I have now) and buy one of those tablet pc's for mobil work

I'd say no on the basis that if you have a working desktop PC which you can keep in your house then just write notes up by hand... besides the money will become useful (unless you're damn rich!)

 

At the same time if your computer is seriously out of date and needs updating, and you'd rather type notes then write, and you have the money, maybe you should get one!
