Garfield Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Sorry if I put this in the wrong sub-forum (I don't know all the mathematical expressions because I study maths in Estonian). Anyways... Two dices are tossed at the same time. What are the chances that the sum of the points is atleast 4? 31/36?
Dave Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 To get a sum strictly less than 4 (i.e. 2 or 3), there are 3 possible combinations. You could get two 1's, a 2 and a 1, or a 1 and a 2. Anything over than this leads to a sum of at least 4. These events all carry the same probability (1/36), so your probability should be 1 - 3/36 = 33/36.
