Bio-Hazard
Yep, figure this is general discussion, so let's make things unconventional. I have very thick and puffy hair on the top of my head. I use globs of hair gel just to keep it down. The thing is, I want to grow it out and braid it so I look cool. However, I don't want to keep using globs of hair gel over and over. I also figure that if I get my hair leveled out i won't be able to braid it as much, or if I choose to, dreadlock it. What should I do?

Severian
You should shave it all off. I have heard that it grows in much more managably if you shave it all off. PS: YT may not be the best person to ask for hair advice (though I may not be either).
YT2095
and why`s that? just because I trim it once a year with an Axe to keep it level? I`m all for keeping things simple, no nonsense and hassle free ;p
In My Memory
Yep' date=' figure this is general discussion, so let's make things unconventional. What should I do?[/quote'] If your hair is long enough, you can put it in a hair scrunchie. Or, if you have long hair in the front, you can try coming it over the top of your head so that the puffy parts are covered in the hair and it faces in a uniform direction toward the back of your scalp. If not, the cure-all to hair problems like that is to learn to part your hair evenly along the center of your scalp, and be sure to take a shower each morning when you wake up and no less than 2 hours before going to bed (otherwise you'll go to bed with wet hair, and managing it in the morning will be a nightmare). But if you just want to braid your hair and get rid of the puffy mass simultaneously, shave it all off minus the part you want to become a ponytail later on. Finally, you can just choose not to comb your hair. If your whole head is a mess, the puffy mass looks like the rest of the head, and no one will think twice about it.
