G W Bush, is not endorsing D Trump either.

He’s being weak and uncourageous. Saying he’s “too old for presidential politics” instead of doing the hard thing and voting for Harris on principle over party.

Yeah. Also, he had no problem to dance to Cheney's tune while he was president.

If 'weak uncourageous' Republicans don't vote in November, that's still a slap in the face and a worse outcome for D Trump.

The ex-President is now threatening to go after supporters and donors to the Democratic campaign after he's elected, for trying to subvert the election.
I guess that's not the same as using campaign financing to pay off porn stars who may disclose information that damages your campaign.
Thank goodness American judges can be 'bought'.

Bush is likely adhering to Reagan's 11th commandment: "Thou shalt not speak ill of any fellow Republican."  Since his father was Reagan's VP, this was likely strongly impressed on him, and a hard habit to break.

Another hard habit to break is apparently political self-interest, specifically looking at how Nikki Haley has become so supportive of Trump. She is on-deck and ready to campaign for him and despite presenting herself as a strong person with principles and backbone has instead chosen to bend the knee and kiss the ring.

Am more frustrated with her than GWB, but he certainly needs to heed John Stuart Mill:

Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed.”

I can kind of understand the strategy a bit though, while morally disagreeing with it. I agree it's out of complete political self interest, but I'm wondering if in her head she believes Trump will lose to a woman of colour and so in 2028 she believes she may be seen as a potential Republican foil to Harris. She is definitely not done trying to run for president and will probably take another shot at the next Republican ticket in 28. By not alienating herself completely from Trump's base of supporters she is hoping she may have a chance with them if Trump is incapable of running again in 2028.

As for GWB, not voting for the Republican candidate is a rebuke in and of itself and I think to some extent he is still playing politics out of a desire to survive in an uncertain future. Attacks on politicians are up and even those with secret service security details have good reason to be nervous considering the violent inclinations of Trump supporters and fringe Republican weirdos. If Trump wins, GWB can claim neutrality to stave off the inevitable accusations of betrayal from Trump and his brood. If Trump loses, not endorsing Harris might be what saves GWB and others from attack in a civil war in the style of the Irish "troubles" which is what I think it would likely morph into, but supersize me Americanized troubles that will make the IRA look like kittens.

What she did do is alienate herself from the republican base that liked her for being willing to speak truth about Trump. She basically told her own supporters to go to hell, all while trumps supporters will never forgive her for being against him in the first place.

While those risks are clearly present in todays heated political environment, I seriously doubt that former President Bush based his decision on fears over his personal safety. In fact, I doubt it to the point of finding it absurd.

The way N Haley changed her views of D Trump ( and lost any integrity she may have had ) makes her Republican Vice-Presidential material ( emulating J D  V ).

Everybody's trying to save their political ass.

Boom

What the last debate did to Joe Biden, tonight’s debate did to Trump. She picked up voters. He convinced more of his to stay home.

His narcissism certainly shined. He's like one of those old teddies or dolls with the pull cord on the back with a few sentences embedded in it. Everything he says is finished with the best or worst <action> "... in the history of our country". It was a chalk and cheese difference in content and presentation.

Harris clearly won...she accomplished what she needed to do...though I am a little concerned that if she gets in she'll come back to Canada and eat my pets...

If Trump accomplished anything new...he accomplished that...

It is concerning the way household pets are being eaten in our cities.  Springfield was essentially destroyed by immigrants eating kittens.

Also raises the spectre of pets who may be legally obtaining post birth abortions.  They just leave the kittens in the basket while they decide what to do with them.  Clearly Harris is okay with aborting the kittens after they're born and then eating them.  When has she spoken out against this?  NEVER.  What did she do in 3 1/2 years?  NOTHING.  Puppies, kittens, hamsters, gerbils, aquarium fish...in one Ohio city they're all gone.  All eaten by the immigrants, basically people released from insane asylums and prisons, the prisoners either there for political crimes or drugs or....eating pets, presumably.  When you come to our big beautiful country, you know that our pets are bigger and healthier and mostly plump, just easy pickings for these human vermin.

And here I thought my days of getting accused of eating pets were over. Whelp, it looks I can stop pretending and start munching now!

In all seriousness though, I am kind of glad that we went from believing this kind of things to ridiculing it.

I like to think of it as an American problem, but I have to admit I see immigrants here buying "pet food"...I've heard rumours some of them even feed it to their pets!

Oh I have heard that in multiple countries. Definitely not an US exclusive. More a time thingy.

Apparently they are coming from everywhere! All I can say is to trust me that if the majority of the prison and insane asylum populations of Scotland, were in the USA... You'd all fuckin know about it, 100%! As Mark Renton puts it;

Quote

It's SHITE being Scottish! We're the lowest of the low. The scum of the f***ing Earth! The most wretched miserable servile pathetic trash that was ever shat on civilization. Some people hate the English. I don't. They're just wankers. We, on the other hand, are colonized by wankers. Can't even find a decent culture to get colonized by. We're ruled by effete a**holes. It's a shite state of affairs to be in, Tommy, and all the fresh air in the world won't make any f***ing difference!

He's no wrang! Yet half the population of the USA want to vote for someone with half that in their veins?! Mental, pure mental.

Anyway guys, I cooked too much dog for myself and I can't eat another bite. Who wants a piece?

On a more serious note; Was oh so satisfying to watch Trump get his ass handed to him by Harris last night. So predictable though that the Republican side was going to call foul on the ref because Donald Dump can't get it up anymore..

I keep seeing the same criticism that Trump had harder questions than Harris, then they'd cite which questions and J6 would get brought up and I was just thinking to myself "Well how can you ask her a question of the same difficulty when she hasn't herself ever engaged in an insurrection against the USA? You literally cannot turn around and ask Harris about her past criminal convictions, because she doesn't have any!"

I mean it just seems obvious to me that the person with more to answer for would end up with "more difficult" questions. The lesson couldn't be clearer. Don't do messed up shit, don't get asked about messed up shit.

From Slate News describing the reaction at Fox News:

https://slate.com/business/2024/09/debate-donald-trump-kamala-harris-winner-fox-news.html

"Brit Hume, the network’s chief political analyst, was starker. “Make no mistake about it: Trump had a bad night,” Hume told the Fox viewers. “This was pretty much her night.” Sounding exasperated, Hume complained that Trump had been repeatedly baited by Harris, leading Trump to relitigate “so many of the old grievances that we had long thought Trump had learned were not winners politically.” Harris, meanwhile, was composed and prepared, Hume said: “She kept her cool.”

“You’re saying she had a good night?” host Bret Baier asked him.

“I’m saying she certainly did,” Hume said sternly."

Yeah, but in context of modern media diets being consumed by the the MAGA cult, Fox News is considered downright woke. Another liberal rag with a liberal woke agenda. RINOs. Fox News according to the faithful is equivalent to MSNBC now.

Harris had great reaction shots when TFG was making his various unhinged assertions, blending shock and amusement.  And her ability, as a former trial lawyer, to bait people was on masterful display.  She got him pretty riled up, to the point that he fell back on attacking a man he is no longer running against.  While any undecideds (could there still be any?) may not be out factchecking stuff like "all of America and Congress wanted to get rid of Roe v Wade" they may be wondering about his fitness for any public office.

Pass me a dog leg, wouldya?

Meanwhile in the rest of the World pets are now flourishing...those that used to eat them are all now in America...

Not just pets ..
Crime rates in 168 countries have decreased since they started shipping their criminals to the US.

Maybe the miserable SoB should have cracked a smile every so often; might have made him seem a little more believable.
K Harris' smile displays her confidence, and is quite fetching when she smiles ... for a woman about to turn 60.
( I hope after this election we never see anyone close to 80 running again )

For a woman any age.  I'm not going to mince words on this: she's a hottie.
