rthmjohn Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 You know how you can twist a closed water bottle until enough pressure builds up shooting the cap far far away? Why is it that vapor comes out of the bottle? At first I assumed that increase in pressure would lower boiling point of the water, but in fact, it raises it and therefore this would not be the cause of the vapor. What is it?
insane_alien Posted October 4, 2005 Posted October 4, 2005 the air can't hold as much water vapour when it violently decompresses the water vapour momentarily condenses into a mist.
Halash Posted October 5, 2005 Posted October 5, 2005 i thought it was because the air inside was so compressed that it started liquify, and that mist was the liquid air turning back to a gas.... hahah
