Minutes after Donald Trump took the Oath of Office to become the 47th President of the United States, the White House’s website was re-vamped, including the removal of a Spanish language section.

The landing page for the White House’s Spanish language communications similarly went dark in 2017, but had been restored in 2021 during President Joe Biden’s tenure.

I don’t understand why there’s any question at this point. I get why NYT and WaPo et al. hedge on their headlines (like their “confusion” about Musk giving a nazi salute), but seriously, is there any question that Trump is a racist bigot? Motivated by cruelty?

I agree, but I don’t think that removing the Spanish was motivated by greed. That’s another aspect of his “character” but largely orthogonal, I think, to his racism.

But what is he thinking does he not know lot of Spanish voted for him.

It seems CD website has topics for number of threads on the controversial executive order he past that day. The internet is buzzing with also Elon Musk Nazi salute. Yet this forum is empty of such talk.

Trump is center of the room of attention that who he is. If Biden remove the 14 the Amendment Trump will probably bring it back.

The only actual excess of Spanish I've personally witnessed was in a public school about 10 years.  Bilingual signs were posted, including for the cafeteria.  Below the sign in English was the sign bearing the Spanish word for cafeteria.  Which was: cafeteria.

Not sure if it legal or not want Trump is doing or he needs to go to courts and congress for debate and they vote on it. But it be sad day if it gets removed.

Just about all countries in South America offer birthright citizenship - plus Chad and Tanzania - that's about it.

And Canada.

So if the US did NOT allow it - we'd join Colombia as the only nation on this half of the earth. 

On the other hand - for all of you folks who think Europe is the way to go - NO Euro-nation offers unrestricted birthright citizenship. That's NONE. As in ZERO, nor in Australia or Asia. 

This is mainly (theory, not mine) a vestige of the New World - lax immigration policies, due to colonization. It hasn't applied across the pond for a few thousand years.
