Externet Posted Monday at 12:06 PM Posted Monday at 12:06 PM Good day. I was reading about a "Bordeaux mixture" for prevention of fungus and damaging insects for plants and trees. It is a simple water solution to spray hydrated lime + liquid soap, supposed to not deterr/harm pollinators if applied before blooming. What is your opinion instead of spraying such mixture; spraying only the liquid soap onto foliage and branches to make a sticky layer and dusting windward with the hydrated lime powder after with the hope of hydrated lime sticking better to the plants (until next rain ?) -Or, a better approach you may have heard of- ?

That's not Bordeaux Mixture. The key ingredient in Bx Mixture is copper, in the form of copper sulphate. As far as I know it is a fungicide. I have not heard of it being used as an insecticide. https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/agricultural-and-biological-sciences/bordeaux-mixture
