JonM Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Hi, I have been active on these forums for the past couple of weeks and I have learned a lot and I want to say Thank you. This probably has been brought up already, but I think it would nice to have a forum dedicated to nanotechnology. I think its an upcoming science that will affect the future lives of the young generation today (like me ) And with all the great minds of these forums I feel a lot can be learned in this area. Just a thought
5614 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Nanotech would be interesting, it is a new and quickly growing (in all respects) area of science. There is actually a "why isn't there a forum for..." (or some such) thread in the Suggestions/Comments area of this site, try going there, nanotech does actually sound (to me) a very good suggestion, and I've never said that about other things.
swansont Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 You need to define what you mean, exactly, by nanotech. The Cornell Nanofabrication Facility has been around since 1981. So it's not really a "new" technology in that sense.
5614 Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 And gravity existed before Newton discovered it. You have a fair point, but it is kinda, well, you know exactly what I meant! But yeah, you are right... you still know what I meant though!
ecoli Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 Nanotech is pretty broad... it could go into many different catagories, such as bio, material sciences, chemistry, physics, computer science. How many people post things relevant to nanotech, anyway?
JonM Posted October 6, 2005 Author Posted October 6, 2005 Well it would contain all areas, We can post the latest news and comment on them. Everday there is a new article having to do with some sort of amazing progress in the field.
Dave Posted October 6, 2005 Posted October 6, 2005 It all depends on public consensus. If we see lots and lots of posts on the subject, then we might consider putting a forum up for it. But at the moment, we do have rather a lot of fora hanging around, and we try to be very selective on what we will and won't put up. For the time being, I would suggest either the Engineering forum or possibly General Sciences failing that.
