atinymonkey Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 I've just seen pictures on the TV of thousands of people crouding up the New York streets after a power cut. Whats going on? Why are they all wandering around? The BBC has just got correspondents taking pictures and filling in air time. Not very helpful.
blike Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 New York, New Jersey, Detroit, Ottawa and Toronto, Toledo. People are wandering around on the street because the subways are shut down, no traffic lights to control traffic, ferries, trams and trains are all shut down. Sucks for them
atinymonkey Posted August 14, 2003 Author Posted August 14, 2003 It's less interesting now. I've been listening to the Mayor droning on about a powerstation coming back online, he didn't make a lot of sense. Still funny to see so many people wandering round NY, apparently homeless people are directing traffic
YT2095 Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 I expect a good many are out for some fresh air, no air con.
Dudde Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 that's what I said! it was like what the heck "the power's off I think I'll go outside" then I came to the realization that 80-90 degrees is probably pretty hot over there;)
sepultallica Posted August 18, 2003 Posted August 18, 2003 man, i was suprised to see there was no significant increase in crime during the outage. man if that would have happened here in LA, i would have had me a new 48'' plasma TV. oh well. looks like i'll have to wait till the end of the kobe trial.
atinymonkey Posted August 18, 2003 Author Posted August 18, 2003 That's what I was waiting for on the TV too! I'm a bad, bad man for wanting to watch riots on live TV. :uhh: Too much TV and it all seems a bit too unreal.
Dudde Posted August 19, 2003 Posted August 19, 2003 the only possible use for a riot is for entertainment purposes, where you are trying to stop the riot (personally, I find rioters to be just stupid and would shoot them all if the law allowed for it) other than that, they're boring;)
fafalone Posted August 19, 2003 Posted August 19, 2003 Yeah but if there's rioting, there's looting. There's a few things I could use
Dudde Posted August 19, 2003 Posted August 19, 2003 oh yeah good point....hmm... *goes to incite a riot*

O_o good god, don't ever get between a group of artists! rioting is the simple man's way of expressing themselves, if they think that rioting will solve it, then I'll just mozy on over to their house and start looting as a cause of the riot;)
