bren
I am concerned that this nominee (Harriet Miers) will not fully support women's issue .. particularly in terms of abortion and any other issues that may come up over the next 20 or so years. I found this link in Yahoo: http://www.townhall.com/blogs/c-log/J%20Garthwaite/story/2005/10/03/159236.html Can anyone offer any additional information? Thx!!! Tetrahedrite
Any nominee who gets the conservatives' knickers in a knot is a good candidate in my opinion!!!

In case it has some further information, here is the NY Times article http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/27/politics/politicsspecial1/27cnd-scotus.html "...Oct. 26 - Harriet E. Miers withdrew her nomination for the Supreme Court this morning after her selection by President Bush led to criticism from conservatives and liberals and opposition to her appointment began to grow more intense..." Pangloss
I'm going to nod at the far right for this one. I have mixed feelings about it. I didn't want Miers to become a Justice (I don't feel that she's qualified), but I hate seeing Bush kowtow to the far right. Watch the next appointment carefully. It'll tell us a lot about why Miers withdrew.
